EA's, School Secretaries, Librarians, Speech Assistants, DECE's and Long-Term Occasional Teachers (without any permanent contracts) will automatically receive a Record of Employment for the Summer layoff.   ROE's will be submitted electronically within 5 business days of the end of the pay period.  You do not have to wait to file a claim; you may do so before the ROE is submitted.  Service Canada will match your claim to the ROE via SIN.

As in prior years, you must remember to claim your Stat holiday pay if you are filing for EI.  Your Stat pay is your regular day's pay plus vacation.   The July 1 Stat will be paid out on July 12, 2013 however, associated hours and earnings will be identified on the ROE we submit for you the week prior.

The August Stat will be paid out to those recalled for the 2013-14 school year.   Payment of these funds will not be made until September 6, 2013 and those that receive the payment will have their June ROE's amended to reflect the additional monies.  Please ensure you report these earnings to Service Canada.

Effective March 15, 2009, Service Canada changed the regulations on the distribution of ROE's.  It is no longer a requirement for the employer to mail out a copy to the employee as Service Canada has now made the printing of the ROE available to the employee via the following web site:

 http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/

and accessing the "My Service Canada Account".  Once you create your account you can view the status of your claim and print off your ROE from this site. 

In prior years, Service Canada issued posters to circulate however, they have discontinued that practice this year.
