What is Mental Health?
What is Mental Health and why is it important?

Mental Health is “A state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and it is not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

-World Health Organization

Mental health and mental illness are not the same thing. Often times these terms are used interchangeably. Mental health is on a continuum.  Everyone experiences different levels of stress that can impact our mental health, so it is crucial that we learn healthy coping strategies to deal with stress and learn about our mental health.

1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental health issue over the course of their life.

Research supports that mental health issues can impact learning.

Mental health problems can impede social and emotional development.
