Students in Grade 5 learn about making music on Ukuleles. They get to learn how to strum chords and play melodies on their instruments from musical notation, as well as tablature and diagrams specific to the ukulele. Grades 6, 7 and 8 students are introduced to playing and caring for wind instruments while enrolled at St. Mary School. Our focus is playing with fluency and confidence. In addition to note theory and music history, St. Mary intermediate students experience musical inquiry through the use of technology, like iPad apps and computer programs. We offer instruction in:

St Mary School also offers an optional Band program for students who wish to enrich their learning in music and challenge themselves to gain techniques in performing pieces for audiences.
