Interim Replacement Technical Support Specialist
Fort Frances Board Office

A full time (35 hours/week) Interim Replacement Technical Support Specialist is required, working from our Fort Frances Board Office, commencing as soon as possible and terminating on August 30, 2024.
 
Duties
Reporting to the Manager of Information Systems, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing first level technical support for the Information Systems Department. The incumbent will provide end user support, software support, desktop and LAN support to the schools and Board Offices of The Northwest Catholic District School Board.

Qualifications
• Thorough understanding of the Microsoft Active Directory, Google Apps and Classroom, Microsoft Exchange 2010, TCP/IP based networks, Microsoft Windows operating systems and Cisco-Meraki networking hardware;
• Previous experience with VoIP (Mitel Preferred);
• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and SQl server is an asset;
• Proficiency in the maintenance and operation of all technology devices (Chromebooks, iPads, Windows 10 Laptops/Desktops) is required;
• Must be an excellent communicator and be able to multitask, plan, organize and prioritize work/projects;
• Must have the ability to travel throughout the Board’s jurisdiction and a valid driver’s license;
• Must have Grade 12 combined with certification in an industry standardized computer technology course with 1 (one) to 2 (two) years previous experience providing support to a Windows network environment;
• Microsoft Certification, Google Apps and VMWare vSphere experience are assets.

Hourly Wage
$30.88 per hour, as per Schedule “A” of CUPE collective agreement (September 1, 2023).

 Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Education, the major responsibilities of this position are to oversee the school in accordance with the requirements set out in the Education Act including:

  • Educational leadership, fiscal responsibility, planning, legislative compliance, personnel management, communication and community relations, register pupils and collect student information;
  • Giving assiduous attention to the health and comfort of the pupils, to the cleanliness, temperature and ventilation of the school, to the care of all teaching materials and other school property, and to the condition and appearance of the school buildings and grounds;
  • developing school action plans, and plans for student achievement, and working collaboratively with students, teachers and other school based staff members, system resource personnel, parents, the school council, community members, fellow administrators and system administrators.

 

 Required qualifications:

  • Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Teachers with Specialist Certification in Religious Education or the commitment to obtain;
  • Principal Qualifications Part 1 and 2 or with the commitment to complete in two (2) years;
  • Actively practicing Roman Catholic;
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ successful teaching experience;
  • Proven experience in managing and leading successful organizational change initiatives at the school or Board level;
  • The ability to build a cohesive Catholic school community in partnership with staff, students and parents is required.
